Learning The Hero’s Journey at West End Secondary School

Who knew fifth graders could be so good at The Hero's Journey?!

Yesterday, we had the pleasure of collaborating with Take Two Film Academy to teach screenwriting at West End Secondary School on the Upper-West Side in New York. And boy, did those kids really know their stuff!

To kick off the lesson, John played an incredible short film, The Lunch Date, which we've included below for your viewing pleasure.


Then, John dialogued with the kids to identify story elements and how they fit into the hero's journey. Here are the highlights:
