On Thursday 18th March Alan Gibbons, author of the Dark Spaces book of short stories, visited Radford Primary to meet the children who are members of the Radford/Mellers screenwriting after school club. Alan talked to the children about how he became a writer and they told him about the work they have been doing on The Blood Market. He then ran a workshop on how to begin stories and everyone got their book signed!

The first 5 sessions have taken place at the Radford/Mellers screenwriting after school club. All the children have been given copies of Dark Spaces and they have been working with Young Screenwriters coordinator Steve Little from Broadway on the story The Blood Market. They story has been converted into a film script (see resources section) and we have been acting out and filming scenes from the script. After Easter the children will be developing their own story and script with screenwriter Jamie Rhodes from Donkey Stone Films which they will then make into a film.

Helen James at Radford Primary and Joy Mabbott at Mellers Primary have joined together to set up a screenwriting after school club for children at both schools. The club will take place at Radford Primary on a Wednesday. The children will be working on Alan Gibbons book Dark Spaces.
